Wander and Waypoints Consulting helps nonprofits build strong systems, support their teams, and adapt to growth and change with clarity and confidence. Whether it’s designing efficient processes, stepping in as interim leadership, or coaching staff, we bring the structure you need—and the flexibility to explore what’s possible.
Our name reflects our approach: sometimes leaders need space to wander—testing ideas, adapting, and discovering. Other times, they need clear waypoints—strategies, tools, and systems to guide the way. We help you do both.

Story
Wander and Waypoints Consulting helps mission-driven organizations grow and evolve with clarity, compassion, and confidence. Founded by Elizabeth Williams—a longtime nonprofit leader with deep experience in operations, programs, strategy, and team development—we focus on building strong systems, supporting staff, designing impactful programs, and stepping in during times of transition.
Our roots are in youth development, mentoring, and outdoor education, and that foundation shows up in everything we do. We know what it takes to run experiential programs that foster belonging, leadership, and growth—and we bring that same mindset to the organizations we support. We pair that heart with a systems-focused, people-first approach that makes us a strong partner across the broader nonprofit world.
Whether we’re helping make systems more efficient, developing curriculum, coaching new managers, or stepping into an interim leadership role, we meet organizations where they are—and help them move forward with shared vision and the tools to get there.
We’re especially good in the moments that matter: when your organization is growing, shifting, or navigating times of uncertainty. We make sure your people and systems are ready for what’s next.

Vail Resorts, EpicPromise
Elizabeth is one of those people I’ve always trusted to help think big and get things done. She brings a systems-level lens to everything she touches. From program design, evaluation, or long-term strategy, she always keeps people at the center of her work. Over the past five years, she’s been a go-to thought partner for me, especially as we built out the Epic for Everyone program at Vail Resorts. I often pointed other organizations in the outdoor youth development space her way, knowing they’d walk away with resources, clarity, and inspiration. She played a big role in helping us build relationships with groups like the National Brotherhood of Snowsports and various Boys & Girls Clubs teams, which really helped shape our approach. Elizabeth brings curiosity, strategy, and heart to every project. Organizations that work with her will walk away stronger, more focused, and better equipped to lead lasting impact.

Elizabeth's leadership at SOS transformed both the stability and impact of its programs. She had vision for both program stabilization and growth, and committed to continuous improvement. Her elevation of programming, along with the consistent evaluation of outcomes, was instrumental in securing federal and state grant funding. She streamlined information systems to ensure that program, leadership, and development staff all had access to critical program data. Under her guidance, SOS gained real recognition in the mentoring field—thanks to her dedicated behind-the-scenes work to elevate understanding of program impact.
